I also have been dying to do something with all these shirts I 'stole' from my sister, you might remember from <a href="http://katessewgreat.blogspot.com/2011/01/upcycled-dress.html">this </a>post. Well, I printed it out and it didn't really fit together right (this is a recurring problem, so I'm confident it is on my end, not Dana's), but I pieced it together anyway and laid it on the shirt. Fit pretty well, but I was feeling lazy and didn't want to sew side seams, so I just left the sides together and basically loped of the top (would it kill me to take a pic? maybe). Then I used the shoulder straps for the yoke, which really didn't work, but I kinda forced it to do what I wanted. And here is how it turned out:<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

Forget margarine, forget I Can't Believe It's Not Butter, the best butter substitute is <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001EO5Q64/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=kassegr-20&linkCode=as2&camp=217145&creative=399377&creativeASIN=B001EO5Q64%22">coconut oil</a>. Hands down, this is the best! I have been cooking with it for about a year now, and have not turned back. We use coconut oil (also found by the name coconut butter) for not only everything that calls for butter or oil, but also as body lotion.<br />
Why is is so good, you ask?<br />
<br />
1. It smells amazing! Every time I cook, the kitchen smells like we are on some exotic island (who wouldn't want their house to smell that way?) When used as lotion, you smell all islandy and summery, yummy!<br />
2. I suppose some would say the second reason is a better reason to use it, but I would use it just for the smell. We are programmed to believe that ALL fat is bad, but this is a myth. You actually need fat in your diet to have silky hair, smooth skin, and to lose weight. I know it seems counter-intuitive to think that you have to eat fat to lose fat, but its true. Mostly. Maybe some day I will write about fats on a molecular level, but for now, lets just call it good and bad fat. Some examples of good fats would be Omega - 3's, monounsaturated, and the saturated fat that is coconut oil. Omega - 3's can be found in fish and flaxseed. Monounsaturated fats can be found in olive oil, almonds, and avocados. Coconut oil is kind of in a category of it own because most saturated fats are considered "bad fats", but because coconut oil contains no cholesterol, and is full of Lauric-acid it actually supports your metabolism. I could write about this all day, but you would be bored silly, so just try it instead!<br />
3. The third point I want to make is how good it is when used on the outside of your body. My hair is very long and has some serious split ends. Recently, I ran out of my favorite conditioner and used coconut oil instead. Weird, I know, but it actually worked!!!! The ends of my hair look so much better now. I do still need a hair cut, but until I see my hairtician (aka Emily), this will do. I also use it as a general skin moisturizer. Use it right after shaving, and no next day itch. AMAZING!<br />
<br />
I will point out that I was not paid to write about this product, but if you use my link to order it, I do receive a (very small) portion of the proceeds. That being said, I just think coconut oil is amazing and it does so much in terms of healing and it seems that everyone I know is in need of a "miracle drug", and this just might be it!<br />

Previously, we were using cloth diapers, which are bulky, and in our case were used to keep pants up. For the last several months (since her second birthday), I have been trying to figure out what to do about it. I am so sick of putting darts in all her pants, but it seems pretty inevitable that for the foreseeable future that will be my life.<br />
I did, however, try my hand making our own. I used <a href="http://www.made-by-rae.com/2010/10/free-raes-basic-newborn-pant-sewing.html">Rae's Newborn Baby Pants pattern</a>, but they really needed more in the rise and length. Since we are finally getting warm weather, I decided to leave the length alone and have capri's. I did have to add a waistband to get some added rise. Next time I will just add more in the pattern to the rise, and also I would like to give them a little flare. Anyway, here is my version:<br />

I made matching ones for the girls. I supposed I should have prefaced with how I couldn't decide how I wanted to use the 1 yd of cutest fabric ever. I am totally kicking myself for not buying more of this awesome Michael miller print. I just couldn't decide how I wanted to use it and was a bit afraid that I would screw up whatever it was a chose to use it for and be forever devastated (especially since I got it from a local store for $6/yd and can now only find it for $12/yd). <br />
The local fabric store, Fields, does these awesome specials where they will randomly put designers fabrics for $5.97/yd. I have not made the mistake again of only getting a yard. Sorry for the digression.<br />
Without further adieu, presenting the simple skirt:<br />

I got out all her summer clothing from last year and it still fits. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind saving money and not having to purchase a new summer wardrobe for my little monster, but I am kind of sick of looking at the same clothes she wore all last summer.<br />
Enter Maggie of <a href="http://smashedpeasandcarrots.blogspot.com/">Smashed Peas and Carrots</a>. She has some serious skills. I <strike>stole</strike> borrowed her pattern for a pinafore dress that she made for her baby. It totally fit her little as a dress, but I thought it could work for Emma in shirt form. A nice, breezy shirt for the humid summer.<br />

Its been a loooooonnnnngggg time!It was sort of for a good reason, which I will totally get to someday, but for now lets just forgive, forget and look at my latest project!<br />
So, last weekend was the annual Milham neighborhood garage sales, and I just absolutely could not resist stopping by and picking up some oh-so-cheap clothes to upcycle. I am pretty sure other people have the same problem as I do when fitting their children with clothes. Emma is so petite and is just growing out of 12-18 months clothing, in the length that is. She is also obsessed with fish, and I found this cute fishy shirt in a 2T. Of course it was too big to wear as a shirt, so I turned it into this:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KdClldGfg8E/TcSrxZWMY4I/AAAAAAAAAPg/ckA3jXfgKm4/s1600/DSCN1836.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KdClldGfg8E/TcSrxZWMY4I/AAAAAAAAAPg/ckA3jXfgKm4/s320/DSCN1836.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Here is how it went down......<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">Start with a cute but big shirt</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TZaUAixIHDU/TcSqI00ziKI/AAAAAAAAAOc/0lGyIMMsPcI/s1600/DSCN1819.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TZaUAixIHDU/TcSqI00ziKI/AAAAAAAAAOc/0lGyIMMsPcI/s320/DSCN1819.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Cut off the top, just below the armpits</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yLMWsVu54Jc/TcSqfGpqv6I/AAAAAAAAAOs/WdASTFb-SoE/s1600/DSCN1823.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yLMWsVu54Jc/TcSqfGpqv6I/AAAAAAAAAOs/WdASTFb-SoE/s320/DSCN1823.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Cut off the neckline and sleeves (I'm saving the sleeves to dissect later, so I can teach myself how to sew sleeves, plus I can use them for a pattern).</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-28r_JfKdtOw/TcSqsJCt2YI/AAAAAAAAAO0/sSUTOi-Q2G0/s1600/DSCN1825.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-28r_JfKdtOw/TcSqsJCt2YI/AAAAAAAAAO0/sSUTOi-Q2G0/s320/DSCN1825.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Cut what is left into two strips to use as the waist band (now probably isn't the time to admit it but, I had no idea what I was doing when I started this project, which I am ok with because I generally have no idea how to sew and just end up going with the flow), then sew them together.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-79c4hnVASmQ/TcSrACGksZI/AAAAAAAAAPA/SNAEeqtzC7o/s1600/DSCN1828.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-79c4hnVASmQ/TcSrACGksZI/AAAAAAAAAPA/SNAEeqtzC7o/s320/DSCN1828.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">Sew a gathering stitch along one side, you could do both sides, but Emma's butt kinda sticks out and skirts always end up short on the backside, so I decided this might help give the appearance of extra length in the back..... And for once it worked in my favor. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LC2PwRKraqM/TcSrHGY77sI/AAAAAAAAAPE/ftkoPRnTpp0/s1600/DSCN1829.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LC2PwRKraqM/TcSrHGY77sI/AAAAAAAAAPE/ftkoPRnTpp0/s320/DSCN1829.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Now, put right sides together and sew. Since this was a knit shirt I think I was supposed to use a special needle, but i didn't. I believe you should also use some sort of stretch stitch, but I didn't do that either. Regular needle, straight stitch.... it worked for me this time.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iQD5YNB8wX8/TcSrO88w-tI/AAAAAAAAAPI/CpYUW4ZBfOQ/s1600/DSCN1830.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iQD5YNB8wX8/TcSrO88w-tI/AAAAAAAAAPI/CpYUW4ZBfOQ/s320/DSCN1830.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Once you've got that together, you could probably leave it, but I wanted to make folded waist band, so I folded it over and pinned again and sewed another straight stitch with a regular needle</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Zo-VvasaIFI/TcSrgpOnjEI/AAAAAAAAAPU/q3wiMKOkr6g/s1600/DSCN1833.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Zo-VvasaIFI/TcSrgpOnjEI/AAAAAAAAAPU/q3wiMKOkr6g/s320/DSCN1833.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

I'm only a year behind on this one!<div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">I am officially "Miss Late To The Party".</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">In the beginning of January, my husband commented to me about how the "pants on the ground guy" was one of the most famous fifteen minutes of fame people in 2010. </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">"HUH?</span><span style="font-size: large;">???"</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">"</span><span style="font-size: x-small;">You know hun, the guy that sang 'pants on the ground'"</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">"</span><span style="font-size: large;">Really???? that was an actual song?"</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">Seriously, people. That was a real conversation. So, I spent the next hour researching this:</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/tMwhl4IrPNc?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">All I can say is "WOW, How did I miss this?"</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">Well, apparently, I was the only person in America to miss this because, a week or so later I asked my mom and m-i-l if they had ever heard of this "pants on the ground" business. To which, they both started laughing hysterically, and could not believe I was just hearing about it.</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">Fast forward to about a week ago when a girl I work with said she had "Bieber Fever".</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">"UUUUMMMMMM. Excuse me, you have what?"</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">It should come as no surprise to you that I had absolutely no idea what/who she was talking about. Don't worry, though. I looked this kid up, and I do NOT have Bieber fever.</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">Fast forward one more week, to yesterday. I received my first iPad!!!!!! I know, I'm about a year late on this one and its an Apple refurb, not the iPad2. But hey, I finally got one!!!! Let me just say that it is so awesome!!!! I am totally loving it </span><span style="font-size: large;">(so is Emma). </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">I was informed, however, that I would not be able to take it anywhere with me because an iPad case was not in the budget. </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">OMG!!!!! What's a girl to do??? </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-VUgd7CEKluo/TXgt8EjN7sI/AAAAAAAAAOE/-FVD_kAdBPo/s1600/IMG_0164.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-VUgd7CEKluo/TXgt8EjN7sI/AAAAAAAAAOE/-FVD_kAdBPo/s320/IMG_0164.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-size: small;"> </span> </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">Thats Right!!!! I made my own.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-ArqwfKjxLpE/TXgt-ZhkOII/AAAAAAAAAOI/KDoOxLTS9sk/s1600/IMG_0165.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-ArqwfKjxLpE/TXgt-ZhkOII/AAAAAAAAAOI/KDoOxLTS9sk/s320/IMG_0165.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">My iPad now has a comfy, cozy, little bed. AWWW, isn't she so cute :)</span></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-nhpoCQcmcSk/TXguDc6VdBI/AAAAAAAAAOU/RuaolYiAyGA/s1600/IMG_0168.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-nhpoCQcmcSk/TXguDc6VdBI/AAAAAAAAAOU/RuaolYiAyGA/s320/IMG_0168.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">This was my second draft. The first one was too narrow and was turned into a sleeping bag for Emma's baby. </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">I should have done a tutorial, but it was very much a learn as you go deal. I think it turned out cute anyway!!!</span></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03458930335136884759noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7150702122976880762.post-50275479658010255152011-03-03T09:11:00.000-08:002011-03-03T09:11:03.760-08:00Rae's Itty Bitty Baby DressFor the first time in the history of my life, I finished a project that required the use of a pattern. Growing up, I always had these grand ideas where I would tell my mom and wanted to learn how to sew and ask her to "help" me make something...... a doll dress, a skirt, a costume. Whatever project I started, my poor mom would end up finishing <span style="font-size: x-small;">(thank you Mom).<span style="font-size: small;"> This was all until recently. </span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-size: small;">I really wanted to make something for my cousin's baby, and found <a href="http://www.made-by-rae.com/2007/09/baby-dress.html">this</a> little cutie over at Made by Rae.</span></span> Honestly, I did not think I would finish it, I mean there is piping and bias tape and gathering (ok, maybe that does not sound daunting to some, but for a beginner sewist, it seemed to be a pattern for a professional). However, we are teaching our littles about something called "perseverance", and I would hate to be known as a hypocrite. So, in honor of perseverance, I dug in my heels and finished this little number:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-5a1PCn4bRQs/TW_KnezRsLI/AAAAAAAAANA/YH-TeSdsXWs/s1600/IMG_0113.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-5a1PCn4bRQs/TW_KnezRsLI/AAAAAAAAANA/YH-TeSdsXWs/s320/IMG_0113.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Personally, I think it turned out great. I wish I had a serger to finish the edges, but other than that I am pretty impressed with myself. Some of Rae's directions were a bit hard for me to follow, but I ended up figuring it out. <br />
With this success under my belt I feel like I can accomplish anything. I even started a maxi dress for myself and with any luck will be posting pictures of it soon.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03458930335136884759noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7150702122976880762.post-31828960528307871312011-02-22T18:41:00.000-08:002011-02-27T12:06:05.831-08:00Sweater Dress UpcycleSo, as I said in this <a href="http://craftyinkalamazoo.blogspot.com/2011/01/upcycled-dress.html">post</a>, I have a lot of old shirts to upcycle. During E's bath this evening I hand sewed this little number:<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhV89jtYSc9A7lapqCgHl66J_LSkFYh7vkctLz3mBpNVjToEQQ6wGwaoo2qOXQjzindR4iPcTzoCPgJdZY9rVGBcX9whTafOcpk5fVDT4Tpx3NuCbYf_J1lMdmqr3ctbG6W2_gaXoMLB40/s1600/IMG_0107.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhV89jtYSc9A7lapqCgHl66J_LSkFYh7vkctLz3mBpNVjToEQQ6wGwaoo2qOXQjzindR4iPcTzoCPgJdZY9rVGBcX9whTafOcpk5fVDT4Tpx3NuCbYf_J1lMdmqr3ctbG6W2_gaXoMLB40/s320/IMG_0107.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />It was soooooo EASY, too. Here's what it looked like before I broke out the scissors:<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhg7-afT9ZUi_wBCTqWmW14OyAqQuMrW3-EM-mIJ_DAmoMQu4C3nm8CnjQfMMvZ20QF5UUPj6Q1Ee9DHQtOhUNT_Kcc8rYA43EGH847tGomkZv2k_LkIv1O2iHM2-5EeYpY6mIgbgShfUo/s1600/DSCN1712.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhg7-afT9ZUi_wBCTqWmW14OyAqQuMrW3-EM-mIJ_DAmoMQu4C3nm8CnjQfMMvZ20QF5UUPj6Q1Ee9DHQtOhUNT_Kcc8rYA43EGH847tGomkZv2k_LkIv1O2iHM2-5EeYpY6mIgbgShfUo/s320/DSCN1712.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Then, I cut it off right below the arm pits:<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjt0fFMdMzwV7Vi1dHLT4BjcKpLVUBpzoJtJHjeNxfHCAejM0l8wXegagUXMscLqA2jep38HW-CJloVYJgmZxCLRK98eHFAA6hxd7kTuaabp0Eu7V1agm_1TiQie3AtcirRsRNPbUq2HR8/s1600/IMG_0108.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjt0fFMdMzwV7Vi1dHLT4BjcKpLVUBpzoJtJHjeNxfHCAejM0l8wXegagUXMscLqA2jep38HW-CJloVYJgmZxCLRK98eHFAA6hxd7kTuaabp0Eu7V1agm_1TiQie3AtcirRsRNPbUq2HR8/s320/IMG_0108.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />Next I flipped it over so that the bottom of the old sweater would make the top of the new dress:<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzglX5UtVvyNPZ7qmIxYz_SANXp3Elm7o0buC6IA0f9KFxznZYtBEra5UHXG4ItrI7U13CuRMX-BjfMuSYePSX9RT41gprz39L-ngWwoovzBlKl37HX2jK5JeyzFg3Kmr6dUBP7Zu0grI/s1600/IMG_0109.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzglX5UtVvyNPZ7qmIxYz_SANXp3Elm7o0buC6IA0f9KFxznZYtBEra5UHXG4ItrI7U13CuRMX-BjfMuSYePSX9RT41gprz39L-ngWwoovzBlKl37HX2jK5JeyzFg3Kmr6dUBP7Zu0grI/s320/IMG_0109.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><br /><br /><br />I didn't take pictures of this part because I was just kind of going with the flow, but I cut off the neckline and cut it in half. Then I hand stitched (only because I was confined to the bathroom for Emma's bath otherwise I would have used the sewing machine) the straps to the back, sewed on a couple of cute buttons, and cut the buttonholes. <br />Tah-Dah:<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhV89jtYSc9A7lapqCgHl66J_LSkFYh7vkctLz3mBpNVjToEQQ6wGwaoo2qOXQjzindR4iPcTzoCPgJdZY9rVGBcX9whTafOcpk5fVDT4Tpx3NuCbYf_J1lMdmqr3ctbG6W2_gaXoMLB40/s1600/IMG_0107.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhV89jtYSc9A7lapqCgHl66J_LSkFYh7vkctLz3mBpNVjToEQQ6wGwaoo2qOXQjzindR4iPcTzoCPgJdZY9rVGBcX9whTafOcpk5fVDT4Tpx3NuCbYf_J1lMdmqr3ctbG6W2_gaXoMLB40/s320/IMG_0107.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03458930335136884759noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7150702122976880762.post-30552395871938473962011-02-22T13:10:00.000-08:002011-02-27T12:06:05.842-08:00Ring around the Rosies!<div style="text-align: center;">Naptime craft today was:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-m1VshK9S1bU/TWQjM0LKNRI/AAAAAAAAALM/l2m5PIivgdU/s1600/IMG_0082.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-m1VshK9S1bU/TWQjM0LKNRI/AAAAAAAAALM/l2m5PIivgdU/s320/IMG_0082.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"> Hair Flowers!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Emma was pretty excited when she saw the flowers. A taggie football! It was so cute, I just had to do it. So, I kind of remembered her tutorial (photogenic memory, its a gift and a curse) and just went with it, but my first design looked more like a round ball then a foot ball. SOOOO, on to take two. This time I figured out that I would have to make my lens (the eye shape that a football is pieced together with) thinner and longer. Done and Done..... And have come up with this:<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijs_2pp2dlMx6KUDTWZa1Igvk7TtLIfM49KGSPJs4dSaWhwOnocIt1sIXywRT9e86qAEeR-vgH1MnmXrNHn5rKiLATR9KIBpKwRlNo5wusWwtysDee0XRXWC2ZO-yo73TAK8aqMO05JvI/s1600/DSCN1806.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijs_2pp2dlMx6KUDTWZa1Igvk7TtLIfM49KGSPJs4dSaWhwOnocIt1sIXywRT9e86qAEeR-vgH1MnmXrNHn5rKiLATR9KIBpKwRlNo5wusWwtysDee0XRXWC2ZO-yo73TAK8aqMO05JvI/s320/DSCN1806.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>I really want to puke, yet jump with joy. Weird, huh? Let me explain. I am a die hard Michigan fan. Emily's husband is a die hard Ohio state fan. To even bring red and white together on this level makes me sick when I think about it, let alone actually doing it! However, I sucked it up, for that sweet little one week old and I hope they enjoy it........Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03458930335136884759noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7150702122976880762.post-8469318329344128072011-02-19T20:59:00.000-08:002011-02-27T12:06:05.895-08:00New Baby....Not mine, Emily's! My BFF has been blessed with a little bundle of joy wrapped in blue. Jackson Ross, made his debut to the world last Thursday, February 10th. And not a day late, I might add. In fact, that little stinker was so excited to meet Mommy and Daddy, that he decided to poke his little head out 5 weeks early! Yes that is right, 5 WEEKS EARLY! He is truly a miracle. Not a day spent in NICU, he is surprising healthy. A modest 5 lbs 3 oz at birth, yet 18 inches long. He is gonna be tall and thin, just like his grandpa was. Congratulations to the best friend a girl could ask for.... <span style="font-size: x-small;">oh and congrats to your hubby, too :)</span>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03458930335136884759noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7150702122976880762.post-32527667530545412442011-01-30T15:42:00.000-08:002011-02-27T12:06:05.904-08:00Upcycled DressSo last week I 'jacked a bunch of my sister's shirts that she was planning on selling in our garage sale this summer. What do you think?Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03458930335136884759noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7150702122976880762.post-59784589693934954442011-01-29T17:39:00.000-08:002011-02-27T12:06:05.917-08:00Sick of being sick.......Well, sort of. I think its a little to early to be so dramatic. In fact, just last week, I was thinking how thankful I am to have been pretty healthy this flu season. But, since both the hubby and I were both a bit under the weather, the in-laws captured the little one for the day. This was extra special for Emma, because she got Grandma Sally and Papa Dave all to herself. And, boy oh boy, did they ever spoil her. She came home with a belly full of Outback Steakhouse, a new dress, 3 new pair of mittens, and <span style="font-size: xx-small;">(drumroll please)</span> new BOOTS!!! Perhaps I should have prefaced by explaining Emma's love of shoes <span style="font-size: xx-small;">(takes after her Momma)</span>. This child has about one pair of shoes per outfit <span style="font-size: xx-small;">(ok, not really but close enough!)</span> <span style="font-size: small;">and completely adores every single shoe in her collection. So, today, she added a new genre: cowboy style.... er, cow-girl! Typically, it irritates me when Emma is given something that she already has <span style="font-size: xx-small;">(I mean why does anyone need more than one of anything)<span style="font-size: small;">, such as a </span></span></span>second pair of brown boots. But these are so stinkin' cute and cowgirl-ish I don't think I have the heart to exchange them. So, I am going to just <u>have</u> to make her some cowgirl gear to go with them...... EEEEKKKK Project!!!! Mommabear is excited, so stay tuned.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03458930335136884759noreply@blogger.com0
